- Organisations (providing innovative tools for facilitators working with youth groups)
- Educators
- Learners (ages 8 - 14)
- Parents (Learners take materials home to share with family)
- Department of Education (complementing curriculum, supporting HIV/AIDS integrated approach strategy and contributing to teacher training efforts)
The educators will be trained to:
- Facilitate interactive lessons which openly address HIV/AIDS related issues;
- Converse openly about these issues;
- Develop their own knowledge and understanding of HIV;
- Address sensitive issues concerning HIV/AIDS within the school environment;
- Develop HIV/AIDS policies in their schools;
- Be able to provide support for learners; and
- Use IT and other interactive materials as a medium for teaching.
Learners will be encouraged to:
- Talk about the body and growing up;
- Talk about HIV/AIDS;
- Make safe and informed life choices;
- Develop a positive self-awareness;
- Be expressive
- Care for and respect those with HIV/AIDS
- Know how to protect themselves and others;
- Consider HIV/AIDS across curriculum subjects;
- Develop their communication skills and interact with peers; and
- Grow their competence in IT.
